J. R. Rahey's Furniture & Appliances opened in Sydney Mines in 1967.  This single store operation has grown to 4 stores since, but Sydney Mines is still the home base.  The pictures below give a glimpse of what is in store at J. R. Rahey's, Antigonish, New Glasgow, Sydney River and Sydney Mines.  From La-Z-Boy to Frigidaire, Canadel & many other brands, there is lots to see at J.R. Rahey’s.

With the best quality consumer name brands, the Sydney River location has provided customers the  freedom of choice and the promise of quality since 1982.  J. R. Rahey's commitment continues with the addition of the Frigidaire Appliance Store on July 20, 2000.  The Frigidaire Appliance store offers the greatest selection of appliances.  High quality and variety are the theme in the Simmons Mattress Gallery (opened 1999) and the La-Z-Boy Gallery (opened 1994) as well. 

In the Fall, 2002, the next transition in home furniture shopping happened at    J. R. Rahey's. In addition to a new larger La-Z-Boy Furniture Gallery, J. R. Rahey's has added a Furniture Showcase and additional floor space dedicated to both bedroom and dining room furniture.   Lastly, for the electronics shopper, a expanded section for digital televisions and other audio-video products.

In 1996, J. R. Rahey's Furniture & Appliances opened in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia Canada with the area's largest selection of home furnishings and appliances under one roof.  The grand opening also included the introduction of The La-Z-Boy Gallery to the New Glasgow area.   In 1999, J. R. Rahey's opened The Frigidaire Appliance Store and The Simmons Mattress Gallery.
